30 Weeks Dr. Appt.

I have gained 7 more pounds!!!! That means for the third month in a row, I have gained 6-8lbs. My total is 28lbs, which is still not bad, but seeing that I have 9-10weeks to go, I will probably go over the typical 35lbs. My doctor said my weight is just fine and that most all of it is baby and that it WILL (I made him promise!) come off very soon after having the baby.

I am measuring on track and the baby's heartbeat is strong. The doctor thought I may have had a gastrointestinal thing last week after I told him all of what happened (diarrhea, pain in my side/back, etc.). He feels it is over, but I told him if I wake up tomorrow with those same pains, I will be calling him! I also told him that my heart rate has been irregular lately (my heart will feel like it's racing when I am just sitting doing nothing). He said that is perfectly normal at this stage because my heart is working much harder to pump all the extra blood.

I felt some excitement and relief when he told me that induction for social reasons is perfectly acceptable! He said as long as I am progressing/dilating, we could induce BEFORE my due date in order to plan things, such as my mom coming down, what to do with Cleo, Roy taking off school, etc. I didn't even know that was an option, so I was surprised and excited, to say the least. If all works well, I hope to induce on April 2nd - my last day of work is the 1st - that way I can be home by the weekend. All of that is assuming I don't go into labor on my own before then...

Roy is home tonight. Hurray! The past two nights he's been up at BU doing research. It is good to have him home, even if he is in his office studying; at least I know he's here, and I can walk by and give him a kiss on the forehead. Cleo seems to be happier, too. She's licked him and snuggled with him ever since he got home.

One more thing ... my breast pump came in today! I must admit, I want to try it out, but I guess I will refrain until I actually have something to pump out.

Nursing is the best weight loss program EVER...contracts things back where they belong too. Especially the big babies....10-pound #3 was born with the appetite of a 3-month-old, 6 weeks later I was lookin GOOOOD!! lol

I second the nursing as a weight loss program. :)

I had the heart racing thing with all of my pregnancies. SO annoying, and sometimes it would make me feel like I was going to pass out, and all I was doing was sitting there! Glad you're feeling better! Oh, and Carson was MOSTLY induced for social reasons...I'd been having regularish contractions for 4 days, and mom had already come into town to help me, and I was worried she was going to have to go home before or soon after my labor really got going and I NEEDED her help! So we induced. I was dilated to a 2 and 50% effaced at that point, and things went fine. So fun that you are so close to the end that you can think about planning those things. :) Hurrah! :) Hope you had fun with Roy home last night. ;)

OH!! And do wait until you have something to pump before really trying out your pump...it can stimulate some pretty rough contractions and even cause preterm labor if you don't. :)
