My Babies

Cleo has warmed up to Warren a little bit more. She will actually lie beside me now when I am holding him. The other day, they both took a nap on the couch!
Cleo loves to play in the water. She has a little kiddie pool that she walks around and splashes in, but her favorite things are the water hose and sprinkler. I thought it would be fun for her to have a slip n slide, not that she can actually slide on it or anything, but she does start at the end and run down the slide to the bumper where she "eats" the water. She loves it!
Every day I love my baby more and more. He is talking more (We could've sworn he said "mama" yesterday while he was crying), sucking on his hands and slobbering (teething?), kicking his arms and legs like crazy, smiling, giggling once in a while, holding his head up on his own, and of course he watches TV nonstop. I have been turning him the opposite way and reading books to him just so he's not staring at the TV constantly!

"What kind of child did we spawn?"

Yesterday we took our first trip with Warren to the movie theatre. We just had to see the new Transformers movie, so we thought now's as good a time as any to see what our little boy will do in a theatre.
We got in about 3pm, and Warren was sleeping in his carrier. He stayed asleep about 30mins, which was surprising because of how loud the movie was. When he woke up, I pulled him out of his carrier and immediately his eyes were glued to the movie screen. I tried to feed him his 4oz bottle, but he was so mesmerized, he would only eat 2oz. Then he refused to lie down, sit back, lean back, or any other form of tilting. Oh no! He had to be standing straight up looking directly at the movie screen with his little arms just moving! It was so funny!
After about 40mins, my arms were tired of holding him up, so I passed him off to Roy, who was super smart and sat Warren so his legs were straddeling Roy's knee (why didn't I think of that?!) I guess that made Warren feel like he was still standing. Anyway, for the next 20 or 30 mins, Warren sat straight up, glued to the movie screen. He even started cooing at the screen! Roy turned to me and as we were both just laughing, amazed at this kid of ours, he asked me, "What kind of child did we spawn?"
So after watching about an hour or so of the movie, Warren decided he would eat the rest of his bottle and take a nap on me until the movie ended. Wow! Here we were all prepared for a crying baby that we would have to take out in the hall, but we ended up laughing at how much he loved the movie and rarely took his eyes off of it. Should be no surprise - he is just like his daddy!

Trip to Ponca City & 12 Weeks Old

June 13th we headed to Oklahoma to see our families. On our way up, we got to see Brian and Alicia, some of our childhood friends, and their children Izze and Ian. It was great to catch up, and Izze and Ian were so sweet with Warren.
On Sunday we went to our old home church that we grew up in. Warren looked adorable in his cute little vest, and it was fun to show him off to people who have known Roy and I since we were kids.
On Sunday night, we met with Roy's family. It was great to see everyone and to watch them with Warren. He was passed around for several hours, and still had a smile!
Uncle Adam
Uncle Gregg
Aunt Sumer
Cousin Madison
"Nina" (i.e. Grandma)
For some crazy reason, I didn't get a picture of Warren with his Aunt Cristy. She was so sweet and protective of him. She always rocked him to sleep when she held him and wouldn't let other people take him from her until he had had a good nap!
We got to spend time with my family as well:
Warren with his Grammy.
I love this picture of my dad with all his grandkids - John, Sarah, and Warren.
We slept at my parents' for the last few days of our trip. Warren woke up to eat about 4am every day, so I was pretty tired come morning. On this morning I decided to put him back in bed with us - Daddy decided to cover his head to get out of the pic! (BTW - When at home in Waco, Warren sleeps 10-12hrs a night! He spoils us.)
As always, I loved spending time with my nephew and niece. One morning we made "happy face pancakes" with Grandma!
We celebrated John's and my dad's birthday along with Father's Day.
Auntie Kim brought Warren a super cute outfit and this adorable stuffed wiener dog! It looks just like Cleo!
My mom says my niece, Sarah, is just like I was at her age... kinda scary, but otherwise, aren't we cute?!!!
Warren was quite the taste-tester on this trip; he had some coconut cream pie, chocolate silk pie, and more...
Warren liked Grammy's "special" cookies!
Hey, Grandpa, give me some more of that popsicle!
This one is probably the one that makes us most proud - Roy feeding Warren his first taste of Starbucks! White chocolate mocha frapp, no whip.
While home, Roy's mom gave me some pics of Roy as a baby. The resemblance to Warren is amazing! What do you think?
Warren is officially 12 weeks old! I took a few pics of him today, though he did not want to cooperate much. He is doing so well - he "talks," sticks his tongue out on demand, is starting to wave, will stand for minutes at a time on his legs, and he has even giggled at me! Can't wait to get that on video. It made me cry! He now weighs about 14lbs.
He is focusing on everything now, and is just mesmerized by all that is around him. Today I was reading him a book that his Grammy gave to him. He was actually looking at the pics on each page.
Our sweet boy
I am sure I will have many more pics to post of our time together this summer. It's crazy how fast Warren is growing. He seems bigger and more developed every day. I love this job!

Ten Weeks Old: "Talking," Funny Faces, and Gagging

Last week, Warren starting "talking"! He does it more and more now, esp. in the morning and in the late evening. We coo at him, and he will coo back - love that! I got it on video today, though he started getting fussy at the end - performance anxiety. LOL

Warren has made silly faces (just like his daddy) since he was born. I got some more of these on camera today:This one cracks me up - is he trying to give me the finger for taking all these pics? LOL

Warren just has the sweetest face! This one is not a funny-face pic, but I have to include it just to show him off!

Another thing Warren started last week is chewing on his fingers/hands. He is definitely slobbering more, too, so I guess teething will happen in the next month or so. He will put his fingers so far into his mouth that he gags himself - that just started today! Oh, and so did his fake cough. :) Warren, it is so wonderful being your mommy. I love to watch you learn and grow every day, and I am so mesmerized by you that I hardly get anything else done. I wouldn't miss you growing up for the world. Your daddy and I adore you; you make us laugh and smile everyday. We are so glad you are ours.

Photo Fun

I love these pics of Roy with Warren; it is so obvious they are related! I wish I had a pic program that would allow me to combine the two pics - the first one is better of Roy but the second better of Warren.

I have been wanting a black and white pic of Warren's feet. I played around today and got a couple. Can this little guy get any cuter? Seriously, how did we make such a cute baby?!!!! This hat is still way too big, but I couldn't pass up the chance. Warren got five shots this week. He cried when they poked him, but he stopped quickly after. Such a tough guy. He is 12.2lbs and is sleeping through the night still. We feel so lucky to have an easy baby - it's enough to make us second guess having a second child just in case the Garton luck decides to kick in!

Something fun!

We had a baby shower for a coworker today, and I made this diaper cake. I based it off the one my friend Mel made for my baby shower. I think it is super cute, and much more updated and modern than ones I have made before. It was just great to be able to do something with clean diapers instead of soiled ones!!!
