New Stuff!

Tonight I put together Warren's playard. I must admit that putting the extra changing table and mini bed on the top was a pain in the uterus (ya, I know, my pregnancy sense of humor is pathetic!), but I love the design and the colors. I put the travel system together last week (the car seat is in the car, so it's not in this pic).
Roy and I had a date night tonight! It was wonderful after not really seeing each other much this week. We went to Target and bought the play yard, went and ate at Wing Stop, went to Barnes and Noble (I bought Warren another Dr. Suess book!), and then we went to the dollar theatre and watched Quantam of Solace. Afterward we came home and got Cleo and headed out to Starbucks. After we got home I put together the play yard. Great night!

30 Weeks Dr. Appt.

I have gained 7 more pounds!!!! That means for the third month in a row, I have gained 6-8lbs. My total is 28lbs, which is still not bad, but seeing that I have 9-10weeks to go, I will probably go over the typical 35lbs. My doctor said my weight is just fine and that most all of it is baby and that it WILL (I made him promise!) come off very soon after having the baby.

I am measuring on track and the baby's heartbeat is strong. The doctor thought I may have had a gastrointestinal thing last week after I told him all of what happened (diarrhea, pain in my side/back, etc.). He feels it is over, but I told him if I wake up tomorrow with those same pains, I will be calling him! I also told him that my heart rate has been irregular lately (my heart will feel like it's racing when I am just sitting doing nothing). He said that is perfectly normal at this stage because my heart is working much harder to pump all the extra blood.

I felt some excitement and relief when he told me that induction for social reasons is perfectly acceptable! He said as long as I am progressing/dilating, we could induce BEFORE my due date in order to plan things, such as my mom coming down, what to do with Cleo, Roy taking off school, etc. I didn't even know that was an option, so I was surprised and excited, to say the least. If all works well, I hope to induce on April 2nd - my last day of work is the 1st - that way I can be home by the weekend. All of that is assuming I don't go into labor on my own before then...

Roy is home tonight. Hurray! The past two nights he's been up at BU doing research. It is good to have him home, even if he is in his office studying; at least I know he's here, and I can walk by and give him a kiss on the forehead. Cleo seems to be happier, too. She's licked him and snuggled with him ever since he got home.

One more thing ... my breast pump came in today! I must admit, I want to try it out, but I guess I will refrain until I actually have something to pump out.

Quick Update

I am officially preregistered at the hospital, I have the car seat in my car, the stroller all together, a breast pump on order, Tums at my side, a baby shower being planned for spring break, and a growing baby boy inside of me that is now so long he is kicking my right side close to my ribs. The other day he must have been in the butt-in-the-air position because my tummy was completely lopsided - the right side was about 2-3" higher than the left - and it was sooo hard it felt like a rock.

It is getting harder to sleep well at night. And I can't believe I am actually blogging this, but I have now officially had 3 lesbian dreams while being pregnant. Gross. I have read about weird dreams during pregnancy, but not this kind. Maybe no one else is willing to admit it... or maybe it's like Roy said, "Oh great, our son is going to be gay." LOL We laugh it off knowing it means nothing at all, but still, it's something for the memory "book," which is this blog.

I am starting to feel the stress of getting my maternity leave lesson plans done. I haven't even started them yet. It's so hard because I am busy planning for my classes now, much less 9 weeks from now.

Roy's semester is already crazy. In fact, he hasn't even been home yet today, and it's 6:45pm. He is researching in the library. Thankfully, this is his final semester of classes. In the fall and spring he has a one hour class per week and then the rest of the time to prepare for prelims. He will still have to work for his professor, but it will be so nice for him to not have classes - not to mention it will give him more time with Warren.

My OB appt. is Thursday; I will post again afterwards.

Feeling Better

Well, I still don't know what's wrong with me, but the medicine starting kicking in about 10:30pm on Tuesday, and I have felt so much better since then. No more burning, pain, frequent urination, etc. I feel normal. My next appointment is Thursday, so we will see what my doctor says about it all.

My belly has grown much more this week! I told Roy yesterday that I feel big as a hippo. My students kept rubbing my belly today like a genie's lamp, telling me how big I am. One even asked how much I weigh now! I think it's so cute that they are taking such an active role/interest in my pregnancy. I admit I like the attention.

We received a HUGE blessing this week: a good friend gave us a gift card to Target for $500! I actually tried not to accept the gift because it was too much, but she wouldn't hear of it, saying she had this planned from the day she found out I was pregnant. We are going to get the pack and play that matches our stroller and car seat (which came in this week, by the way!), a breast pump, and possibly a glider rocker and ottoman for the nursery. Can you believe I only have 9-10 weeks left?!!!!!

What's Wrong With Me?

I woke up this morning with the same pain I had last week thinking I had another UTI. I called my OB, and he wanted to see him. I went in and he took a urine sample, but said there where no white cells in my specimen, which means there is no infection. I told him that was crazy because I have pain down there; my urine burns; and I feel like I have to pee constantly, even though sometimes it is just one or two drops. He said it could be my uterus just pushing on my bladder, but I reminded him that I had been on meds for a UTI last week, and I was totally fine until this morning. I asked if this would happen if it were just my uterus on my bladder, and he said that would be A-typical. He decided to go ahead and give me a UTI prescription. He said it can be our experiment. If it gets better, we'll assume it helped. The good thing about the visit was that I got to hear Warren's heartbeat again, and he seems to be totally unaffected by my issue, whatever it is.

Well... I took the first pill at 10:30 this morning, and I have felt no relief so far. In fact, I have a soreness on my left side and partially into my back. At this point it's not painful, but I am very aware of the soreness. Interesting.

To make my morning even crazier, I got into the car to go to work, and my passenger side window was shattered! It had not fallen in, so I don't think someone tried to break in, but the whole window was shattered. We couldn't see a hole or puncture point, so we have no idea what happened. Thankfully we were able to get it fixed today for only $130, but it was just another blip in my day.

So I have been asking, What's Wrong With Me? today...

28.5 Weeks Pic

When I first got pregnant, I told myself I was not going to post any naked belly pics until there was no doubt that all the belly was baby - I guess now it is quite obviously all baby, so I went for it.

Roy is my photographer for these pics, and he became really goofy tonight! He decided to take "pictures from all the angles to cover my bases all at once." LOL The pics are crazy, but I had to post them for the humor.

He actually got on the floor to take this one! I have still been feeling really well, considering how far along I am. I think the UTI is about gone, and hopefully I won't get anymore - ever! The top of my uterus has been growing more recently, and my ribs are sore once again, which just means more growth! It's all so exciting! Speaking of exciting ... I ordered our travel system tonight!!!!! Love Target!

My First UTI!

This morning just before Sunday School started, I just had to go to the bathroom. I remember afterward I told Roy, "That was a waste of time; I hardly went at all." Little did I know that was the beginning of my sorrows... later on today, around 5pm, I had urinated, and within 1min I just had to go again, but of course, it was a wasted visit. Then came the burning pain and the feeling of someone constantly pushing on my bladder. Ugh!
After looking up symptoms online, I called a friend that has had many urinary tract infections, and she suggested I call the on-call doctor to get a prescription. I did! I am leaving in about 10mins to pick up a prescription. I know UTIs are common during pregnancy, but I sure hope this is the only one I have - ever! I have never even had one before, so this is a whole new experience for me. (Once again, how in the world am I going to handle labor if I can't even handle a UTI?!!!!)

26 Weeks Dr. Appt.

On Friday, January 2, I had my 26weeks checkup. To my chagrin, I had gained 8lbs in 4 weeks, and a total of 21 in this pregnancy so far. I have 3 months to go, so I am going to really watch my weight and try not to get over that suggested 35lb mark. I never would have thought I would have gained 14lbs in two months! My doctor said, "That's good; that's what we want," but it is really hard to think that way. Anyway, I was measuring right on schedule, so I guess it's okay. I am, after all, growing a human! I also had to take the gestational diabetes test, and so far the doctor hasn't called me, so either the results were normal, or he hasn't received the results yet. I am hoping for the former.

Warren's heartbeat is about 150bpm. He is about 16" from head to toe and weighs around 2.5lbs. I am feeling him all throughout the day now, and I can nearly always tell where he is by pushing on my belly. Last night when I went to bed he had the hiccups, and he did not like them at all. He moved and kicked so much for about 3mins that I almost felt nauseous and couldn't wait for him to stop moving!

The top of my uterus has been sore the past two days, so I guess I am having another growth spurt. Roy told me tonight that my belly looks bigger today than it did even two days ago. He never comments on my belly, so it must be true.

My next appointment is on the 29th, and then I think I start going every two weeks... it's getting so close!
